NCCAFV's AMERICAN CAMPAIGN for PREVENTION
of CHILD ABUSE & FAMILY VIOLENCE
A 501(c)(3) nongovernmental, nonprofit USA organization.
An Urgent Message from our President
The COVID-19 outbreak is putting extra pressure on us at the American Campaign for Prevention of Child Abuse and Family Violence because of the surge in frequency and severity of child abuse, domestic spouse/partner abuse and elder abuse and neglect under enforced lockdown, alongside a family’s often-acute drop in financial resources.
We at the National Council’s American Prevention Campaign are seeing exactly this: higher demand for our support and expertise while we are losing 35–40 per cent of our donation income because of coronavirus.
We have had to shift to even more direct service online to those experiencing family violence at home, a service we were already deploying. We have a range of existing digital platforms to help efficiently deliver immediate support and referrals for vulnerable individuals and families needing immediate, direct local services, support advice and intervention assistance.
While we were already using digital resources to serve vulnerable families and individuals seeking help, COVID-19 has forced the team to accelerate those and many other new ways of working.
We have almost entirely pivoted to immediate work on COVID-19’s social and relational impact (both physical and emotional) on family well-being. Some staff who cannot take part in that effort are furloughed to ensure the American Prevention Campaign’s financial sustainability. All remaining volunteer staff are working from home.
The National Council on Child Abuse and Family Violence (NCCAFV) and its American Prevention Campaign are available on www.preventfamilyviolence.org and on Twitter. Thank you for giving during this difficult time for all of us.
Our mission is to provide prevention services by bringing together community and national stakeholders, volunteers and professionals to prevent intergenerational family violence: child abuse and neglect, spouse/partner abuse, and elder abuse and neglect.
Did you know that Domestic Violence (spouse/partner abuse) is reported in more than 50% of official protective service investigations into child abuse and neglect?
IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS BEING ABUSED, CALL:
Too many families experience abuse -- child abuse, spouse/partner abuse, elder abuse -- in one or more of its many forms: emotional, physical, verbal, sexual, economic. It is expressed through violence, intimidation, abusive language, controlling behavior and exploitation..
More than ever before, people are aware of the painful and often long lasting effects of abusive behavior within the family. No longer does a family member need to suffer silently — help is available NOW.
Assistance for individuals and entire families seeking help is now available from law enforcement, public and private social service agencies, churches, shelters and the legal and medical communities.
NCCAFV provides this website to assist, inform and link victims with those individuals and agencies who volunteer to serve in this national safety network.
Because our entirely volunteer leadership staff works probono, 95% of your
contribution goes directly to program services and only 5% is spent for management and fundraising support services. The small percentage allocated to support services is a reliable indication that we are committed to using your generous income tax deductible support efficiently and effectively. Federal EIN #95-4356014.
Thank you for your generous support.
